| The
importance of Kangha (A wooden comb) in sikh philosophy & practice |
Kangha, a wooden comb
is an essential part of the Sikh dress, to keep the hair tidy
and clean, mainly to maintain hygiene. Just as a comb helps to
remove the tangles and cleans the hair, the Kangha is a spiritual
reminder to shed impurities of thought. Gurus ordered Sikhs to
treat kesh with utmost respect.
Significance of Kangha being wooden:
It is a tradition of sorts but also due to wood being non conductive
and doesn’t produce static electricity like for example plastic.
Secondly having a wooden kangha makes it a bit more exclusive
- plastic combs are a dime a dozen.
