Ardas

Bhai Taloka was a GurSikh at Guru Arjan Dev Ji'time. He was also a General in Nawab Gazni's army. Once Nawab called a meeting of senior officers including Bhai Taloka. He told everyone in the meeting that tomorrow all of us going to go for hunting in a forest taking only swords and no guns. Next day, Bhai Taloka went to the forest as ordered by Nawab for hunting even though he did not want to kill any animal. The flock of deer passed in front of Bhai Taloka and he used sword to kill the last female deer. The female deer died along with two of her unborn deer. He felt bad by looking at the scene. He went home and at Rehras Paath and Kirtan Sohila Paath, the scenes of the killed female deer and her unborn deer were flashing before his mind and could not concentrate on Paath. He got up at Amrit vela and the same scene started flashing at his mind again. He asked WaheGuru to forgive him for what he did and replaced iron sword with a wooden sword. Someone complained to Nawab that your General Bhai Taloka is keeping wooden sword and what he would do if there is a battle to be fought. The Nawab did not believe the complainer but the complainer asked Nawab to check in the everyone's sword in the parade today. The complainer further told the Nawab that if Bhai Taloka carries a wooden sword then he should be punished else you can punish me.

Nawab went to the parade and asked Bhai Taloka that he want to inspect everyone's sword today. Bhai Taloka knew someone has complained because Nawab never came before to inspect the swords. Nawab started inspecting from soldier and lower rank officers and finally to General. Bhai Taloka started doing Ardas to WaheGuru. There are two requirements for Ardas to be accepted:

1.The Ardas must be done with 100% concentration of mind.
2.There should be 100% faith that WaheGuru will accept the Ardas.

The example of non-faith is given:

Once there were no rains in a particular area. The people of that area decided to do Ardas so that there crops are saved. The people gathered together at one place for Ardas. One passing by Mastana Faqueer stopped there and asked them the purpose of gathering. One of them told Faqueer that that they gathered here to do Ardas because the crops will be destroyed in the absence of rain. The Faqueer said that is good but none of you brought any umbrellas or barsatie .. when WaheGuru accepted your Ardas then there will be lot of rain. One group leader said, we do not know whether it will rain or not. The Faqueer said how your Ardas going to be accepted when you do not have faith in WaheGuru. He told them to go home.

Bhai Taloka's Ardas was accepted. When Nawab came to inspect his sword, Bhai Taloka took out a shining iron sword out of the cover. The complainer was punished.

LESSON LEARNT:

The Ardas should be done using the following two rules:
1.The concentration of mind at the Ardas time should be 100%.
2.There should be 100% faith that WaheGuru will accept the Ardas.
