The Making of the Khalsa Guru Gobind Singh was the last Guru of the Sikhs in human form. He created the Khalsa, a spiritual brotherhood and sisterhood devoted to purity of thought and action. He gave the Khalsa a distinctive external form to remind them of their commitment, and to help them maintain an elevated state of consciousness.

PANJ PYARAS (FIVE BELOVED On the historic day of Baisakhi on 30th March, 1699, in a specially invited gathering of about 80,000 devotee Sikhs at Keshgarh Sahib in Anand Pur town, Guru Gobind Rai Ji, flourishing unshealtered Kirpan (Sword) in his hawk, demanded sacrifice of a Sikhs’ head. There was stunned silence in the gathering, Guru Ji repeated his demand and on this call, a Sikh named Bhai Daya Ram offered his head before the Guru. Guru Ji took him to a tent pitched near the stage and came out after a few minutes with blood dripping from the sword. He asked for another head.
